I have a 1909 boat with 1910 Lockwood Ash with steering around the engine {aft of boat} I would like to add something near the bow too. the boat now has a drum with cable. Can I add another station or will i create to much resistance ? You can call me at 661 513 0524 west coast or email [email protected]. Thanks for your help |

The usual problem is that the steering is too loose. But in your case, I think you'd find that the steering will be stiffer than before, and eventually, you'll get used to it. Just make sure that the wheel you use at the second steering station has a good , low friction bearing. You'll also need to figure that you'll add at least 2 or 3 rounds around the second wheel drum. In any event your boat doesn't sound like a speed demon, so you'll have plenty of time to steer away from any objectionable things that might be in your way. |

Have a two station steering system in a 19 foot canoe stern launch. No problems. I do use nylon rope kept very tight. I keep the nuts on the end of the wheel a bit tight so that when you set a course you dont have to hold the wheel all the time Regards Roger. |
