Here is what I did with the brand new NOS but NOT from parts 1946 YT 1 that some of you saw at Calvert.
Dick Day assisted in getting the engine for me. It was purchased new in 1946 to put in a boat. However the boat never got built. The engine passed through a couple of owners to me.
It has been years since I have had an old engine in my office. By the way a neet desk is a sign of a sick mind.

I have had people try to tell me Palmer did not use that carburetor with the YT-1. They did and it is shown in their sales literature and price lists for around 1940. I admit it is strange it does not have a slanted intake throat but you need to remember the CG. requirement for a back fire trap was not evn passed until 1940. Admittedly most responsible makers and boat owner had a backfire traps going back to the 1920 and most had a brass or copper pan with a fine screen to catch any drips. I must admit as kids we simply dumped the drips over the side. Learned a lot since those days. Palmer also encouraged the boat owner to bend the intake pipe to compensate for the shaft angle and when the boat was under way. I have had people at shows ask why the engine is mounted catty wampous. When I explain it is a boat motor and that is how they are mounted in a boat they just shake their heads!!!
