I'm thinking about buying a benchtop lathe or a lathe/milling machine. I'm considering the Smithy, Grizzly, and other makes.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have one for sale?

I would not get a smithy or any lathe mill combination. You will find yourself constantly doing a lot of excessive setup & breaking down to switch back and forth from lathe to the mill all the time. Buy two separate individual machines, (Lathe) (Mill) Takes up more room and is going to cost you more to purchase them but it will be well worth it. Also try to buy heavy duty and sturdy made machines. They will machine your parts better with less chatter and less tool breakage. I have a Monarch 10EE lathe & a Sharp milling machine which is a copy of a BridgePort. Some of the copies are better then the Bridgeports. On the other hand some of the copies are worse. Most all of the Bridgeport type mills including Bridgeports are made out of the USA now and imported.

I certainly second that.
You'll only cry once ( after you've paid for them) and never again.

Does anyone have a used benchtop lathe for sale? I'll pickup or pay shipping.

You can look under BYOD ( Bring Out Your Dead) in the www.owwm.org web site - better that Craig's List or eBay or Kijiji
