Could this engine's cast iron cooling waterjackets have some sort of electroplated (Electro-Deposited) zinc, tin, or some other protective metal coating, to prevent & protect it's cast iron cooling waterjackets from rust & corrosion ? If-so~~~they were way ahead of their time. Heck~~~ Mercruiser has just started to coat the internal cooling water jackets of their exhaust manifolds & intake manifold's water jacket's passages today ! |

Believe it or not, I've been told you can electro-deposit iron in such a way as to actually build up pipe; pure iron of course. The idea presumably being to keep the weight down in this case. |
