Hi. I have a recent problem with my 4108. From cold it starts with no problem and revs nicely. When the engine gets warm it simply will not rev in gear or neutral. I had to get home on tick over in gear just!! Fuel filter clean. Fuel newish. When cold (next morning) all good again until it warms up and same again. Can anyone help? I am on my own in Mallorca in the Mediterranean so rely on various forums for help. Thanks Guys. |

Hi Peter, Well that's a bit odd, as a Marine Engineer my first thoughts are, the injector pump needs rebuilding, but that is assuming all the valve clearances are correct as are the compressions which they should be as it starts, I take it you have checked all the cable connections etc to make sure throttle operation is always working and not slipping when it gets hot,If these are all ok it only leaves the injector pump, it is possibly the Governor sticking in the pump but that can only be sorted when the pump is stripped, Bests I can come up with sitting here at my computer I am afraid. One thing that comes to mind is the return from the injector pump. There is a fitting that regulates what leaves that pump, look to see everything is open and not stuck. I would check the flow of fuel when it acts up,it could be poor flow when warm or the floating plug |

Thanks for the advice - I will get down to the boat later today and look at the pump. That is the bit I hoped it wouldn't be as most else I can tinker with! Thanks again Peter |

Final Thanks to all. Up and running better than ever. New lift pump, re-cleaned both the pre-filter and main filter. |
