My Palmer P60 just had a new head installed and a carburator rebuild. The engine starts from cold quite well with the choke on as long as I push the choke in very shortly after it starts. Once it warms up, it has great power and runs quite well. The problem is starting it after we've raced a bit (with the engine off of course). After it cools down a bit, it's hard starting and feels like it's hard starting. I have the manual and read the tips on carburator adjustment. Would anybody have had a similar problem. Could the jet just be continuing to leak a little gas that's flooding it out. We did find that by leaning the main jet out while trying to restart it, helped. But that's a real pain in the a.. . I haven't played with the high speed adjustment under load and will shortly when I have a buddy to play with the adjustments while I'm on deck. But what could be causing this persistent flooding and can it be adjusted? |
