I been working threw this engine and everthing seam right. BUT it will not fire consantly. we had it running for 3 - 4 minutes with out load but than can not get to fire more than 1 or 2 times. Put a compression gage on the primer port and got bearly 30 lbs then it fired of all times and jumped to 90. Our guess at this point is that it need new rings so the compression is higher and the down stroke will drive more fumes up in to the cylinder. any thoughts. will probly check compression on pokey before I stare to take the engine apart. Squirt a bunch of oil in the primer cup and see if it runs. You can also re check the compression after squirting in oil. It may simply be the cylinder is gas washed |

Oil disappearing from above the cylinder may not tell you anything. Suggest squirting in some oil and see if it will start. If the cylinder is gas washed there may not really be anything wrong that some oil on the cylinder won't fix. It is actually quite easy to gas wash a cylinder when trying to start an engine for the first time as most of us tend to have the mixture too rich. Send me an e-mail for my phone number if you want to discuss on the phone. Hope this helps Ernie |
