Hi there ,
am new on this site so I don't know if this is the right place to put my post . but do any of you guys know where I can get a date for my volvo penta md1 the engine number is 11289 don't know if this will help , i have looked on the volvo penta sites but they don't seem to go that fare back . all info will be taken onboard |

They stopped making MD1's in 1970 and started the md1b. degigns and parts on the MD1 stayed the same from 1965-1970 |

thanks Tif,
someone from volvo penta dealer has narrowed it down to 1964 to 1967 by the engine number and H.P
its still going strong in my 25ft canal boat .
Thanks again for the info , do you know of any where you can get second hand parts for these engines or where they have old boat engine's and stuff ,like a boat jumble or some thing ..

I have a MD1B engine with rack & pinion controls on a 1972 sailboat. I'm trying to find replacement cables. Any suggestions? |

Hi Scotty, Have you contacted the Sailboat Manufacturer? The Volvo Penta MD1B Shop Manual doesn't cover any rack and pinion controls. Have you tried an OEM rack and pinion supplier on Google? Mart G. LBI New Jersey |
