Here is a recently published video that adds to the information in a 2006 post about my Kitchen Rudder.

Of interest to ome.com members is the circa 1947 engine, one of the last manufactured by St Lawrence Engine Company.
This is a 3 HP direct connected single cylinder two-cycle unit, the smallest built by St Lawrence, 3 ¼ B x 3 ½ S developing about 3 HP at 850 RPM.

Kitchen Rudder is an ideal match for this engine. This first section of the video demonstrates the incredible maneuverability provided by the Kitchen Rubber, much better than could be achieved with a transmission.

The second section illustrates and explains operation of the Kitchen Rudder clam shells including a tiller mounted crank used by the Coxswain to manipulate the rudder.

Boat displacement is about 1600 lbs yet achieves hull speed. Propeller 13"D x 13" P.
