Just came into possession of a 6hp Mianus and looking for any information I can get on the company and it's history. Of course I am also looking for info on getting it running again. Not too much interest in marine engines in the area in which I live...... |

What little I know of Mianus is they started outin Cos Cob or Mianus CT. about 1900 and in 1907 moved to Stamford, CT. They had a long life ending I think about 1954. They had an exstensive line of gasoline and diesel engines. There is no known connection between Palmer Bros. of Cos Cob and Mianus. Palmer Bros started out in 1887 as Mianus Electric Co. making telephone hardware. Wendel is wrong when he states Mianus started out as Mianus Electric Company. I suggest you look at the "TIPS" section on here for guidance on getting your engine running. |
