I'm still trying to identify a single cyl. 4 stroke marine engine I own.I would include a picture but presently the cyl. is removed for water jacket cleaning and repair. It has a 5" bore,Schebler carb,Cuno timer,1/2" spark plug in the side of the cyl below the head. The flywheel is solid 19"X 3 1/2,it has 4 round 3"? holes in the inner part. Now the unique part:The crankshaft between the flywheel and main bearing has a spline cut in it. Mounted above that are three 4"? gears meshed in a line. The middle one is driven from the crank spline and in turn drives the other two gears that are attached to single lobe camshafts on opposite sides of the engines. The water pump is driven by an eccentric on the exhaust cam.The exhaust rocker has a brass handled compression release that moves the rocker pivot eccentric. This engine was one of 3 three I bought 25 years ago.The others were Canadian so possibly this is also? any thoughts or ideas are welcome. Jim McCracken Crawfordsville,Or. [email protected] |
