Who is going? Info below: Dear Engine Collector: This year Mystic Seaport will hold its annual Antique Marine Engine Exposition in the Shipyard area as in the past. We believe that the changes we implemented last year were well received and we are planning to continue them. As always, it is the Exhibitors that make the event successful and we are counting on you to continue your support and your input to keep it exciting for all of us. Accordingly, we would like to invite you to show your special marine engine at Mystic Seaport's Twelfth Annual Antique Marine Engine Exposition. The Exposition will be held on August 16 and 17, 2003 on the Museum grounds at Mystic, Connecticut. The hours will be from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Saturday and from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM on Sunday. The Marine Engine Exposition is an invitational show and pre-registration is required. You are encouraged to bring more than one engine, but please use a separate form for each engine you plan to exhibit. See our web site (www.mysticseaport.org) for additional copies. The use of boats to display engines is encouraged. This year we are extending the age eligibility of the exhibits to include pre-1958 engines. If you plan to use a campsite this year, please see the information regarding registration at nearby campsites on the reverse side of the enclosed Exhibitor Information Form. As we enter our twelfth year of hosting the Antique Marine Engine Exposition, we would like to remind you of our show policies. No "For Sale" or "Wanted" signs in the exhibit area. There will be a bulletin board for exhibitors in the coffee area where you can post these signs or notices for exhibitors to see. We will also host our usual swap meet for exhibitors from 7:00 AM until 9:00 AM on Sunday. No posters or handouts for other events posted outside of the coffee area. Steam and model engines need not meet the pre-1958 age requirement. Participating boats in the water or ashore may be constructed of any material. Friends of exhibitors and other engine enthusiasts may not enter through the Shipyard gate. They should enter through the Visitor's Reception Center. Only exhibitors with special needs may park in the Shipyard. Please let us know of your special needs so we can make suitable arrangements. Museum policy does not allow for outside vendors or alcoholic beverages. Please respect our good neighbor policy by not parking on the neighborhood streets. We will provide each exhibitor with admission for two on each day of the show, plus free tickets for a half-hour ride on our own steamer Sabino. Although there will be no judging of models, engines, or boats, each exhibitor will receive a commemorative plaque of the event. Engines can be left in the Shipyard area overnight. There will be a security officer assigned to the exhibit area all night. Boats will be tied up at the floats in the same vicinity. Please feel free to contact me at 860-572-5302, ext 5061 with any questions you may have. Sincerely, Dana Hewson Clark Senior Curator of Watercraft VP Watercraft Preservation and Programs |
