Does anyone know of a source for large headed bolts and fat nuts such as were used on the older engines? Thanks |

Bob, There was a guy that advertised in Gas Engine Magazine one or two years ago (maybe he is still advertising but I haven't noticed it lately). He had a display ad that showed pictures of the bolts in a variety of sizes. Regards, Andrew |

A friend recently told me that these are available from Model A Ford suppliers in 3/8 and 7/16 sizes, fairly resonable. Gas engine magazine has an ad but I understand they're several dollars each. I've made them out of hex stock, you can cheat and drill and tap a piece of hex and thread a piece of all thread rod into it with locktite. Put in a drill and hold it to a grinder to get the crown, polish with emery. I've done this with brass hex and steel bolts, the brass is too weak to thread in a small bolt. |
