We have what we believe to be an "atlas" boat motor. Looks like it might be 1930's or 1940's. Acquired at a sale, it fired right up! There are no identifying marks on it other than a serial #. It is #0042436. Any info you could give us would be much appreciated. Thank you very much, Laurie |

Maybe you could describe it a little further..
Is it an inboard engine or an outboard motor?
How many cylinders?
If it is an outboard, it is probably is probably a Gale made motor distributed by The Atlas Supply Company of Newark. There is brief description of it in Peter Hunn's book The Old Outboard Book.

Frazer Adams engines are in 1914 engine makers index listing. They listed 1-2-3 and 4 cylinder, two stroke marine engs.
Intersting that two different 4 Hp singles were available.
1. under medium duty engs a 3 7/8 bore by 4" stroke, 800rpm weight 175lbs.
2.under light weight high speed engs a 3 3/4 bore
by 3 3/4 stroke, 900rpm weight 150lbs.
