Bill, That is a Lockwood-Ash 8 h.p. I have one going in my new "old" bateau being built now. They were also tagged Motorgo for Sears and later the Lockwood Ash was bought out and built here in Louisiana and it was tagged Nadler. I also have a 4 h.p. Nadler. If that one is for sale let me know please. |

Looks like a Nadler. Nadler repaired and manufactured parts for the L-A engines, there was a strong market for them around here when they went out of production. Nadler purchased the patterns and rights and started making the whole engine under the Nadler name. The M foundry mark was from cylinders cast in Texas. Nadler had a lot of trouble casting the twins, they had the Texas foundry do them, finally did their own, from what I'm told they had about a three in ten success rate. The second engine appears to be a L-A with a Nadler cylinder. The hex water pump caps, hex primer cups and brass timer gears were L-A, the M foundry mark is early Nadler. |

The green engine belongs to me. I guess we will have to pull it apart to determine if it is Nadler, Lockwood Ash, or a combo.

I asked Nadler where they got the timer covers, he said "I don't know, Texaco supplied them". |
