I'm still looking for info for a drive train for my 1938 27 ft. Higgens, any info would be greatly appreicated. |

Could be the Higgins semi-tunnel hull work boat that was the forerunner of the various landing craft manufactured by Higgins during WWII. It was originally designed as the full tunnel hull "Wonderboat" by Andrew Jackson Higgins in 1926 for use by drillers and trappers in the Gulf of Mexico and lower Mississippi. a more refined version emerged as the "Eureka" in the late thirties. The WWII museum in New Orleans has a replica LCVP or Higgins Boat (Landing Craft Vehicles and Personnel) just inside its entrance. There was a "Eureka" LCP (Landing Craft Personnel)that saw service in the war.
I don't know what was used for power in the commercial Eurekas Assuming that this is the hull that you have a number of different drive trains used in the landing craft would be appropriate.
Gray - Diesel Model 65 or 66 delivering 225 HP
Superior-Diesel 150 HP
Hall-Scott Invader - Gas 250 HP
Kermath Seawolf - Gas 225 HP
I'd go with the Kermath ... I've seen one advertised on the web...Fully restored.
