help!! how do i extract or push out a very tight piston from a sabb type h diesel without damage to it? thanks. a lot of frustration here as it i'm only able to get in from the side. |

Try Silikroil. Spray some in the cylinder and let it sit for at least 24 hours. If that doesn't do it repeat with another dose for another 24 hours.
Let me know if that works, I'd be surprised if it didn't |

Hi there everyone,
I was just looking for my pdf copies of the Sabb manuals to answer someones question about his gearbox when I found I no longer have them. I didn't make back up copies and a few months ago I had a nasty computer virus and lost lots of stuff.
Unfortunately it seem the pdf manuals included. I went back to the Sabb site but they seem to have changed it and no longer have anything to do with their old engine, Pretty tight I think.
Anyway does anyone have the pdfs that could send me copies. Kind regards Iain. |

Oops I take it back, just couldn't find them on the new site (have now)they're not tight.

hello, tried transmision oil mixed with acetone for ages but no good. finaly got a sanding flap wheel on the wet liner as that was damaged anyway. then it came out no problem.so then i made a tool for extracting the liner, angle iron over the top of studs and 8mm plate at bottom of cylinder connected with 10mm bolt.but now thats not commin out...any ideas? thanks |

thanks for the pdf's macspud. got the piston out finally got it movingbut still wouldnt come out the top, so got sand flapwheel on drill and reamed the wet liner in order to get it out, but it is now out.now gotta get the liner out and thats provin difficult also, have made the extracter, but has bent 2 pieces of steel already. any ideas there? thanks. j.ball |

One method I've heard about (but have not tried) is to weld a bead along the length of the sleeve. The contraction is suppose to shrink and loosen the sleeve so it can be pulled out easily,run a bead along the center of the cylinder and it will contracts and makes the diameter smaller just by a fraction, but thats all you need to pull it out. |
