I had a look at this one a while ago. The engine looked honest enough and parts are available -see previous discussion on Stuarts, there has been a lot on these sort of questions. I was not sure what the seller meant by "needs a new oil seal". The reason I didn't buy this one was the boat itself. It's very rough and will need a lot of work. The engine would be easy to fix by contrast. |

Thanks for the tip. I am thinking of driving to AK from Whangarei to have a look. Is it worth my time or is it too rotted to float? cheers |

She must have floated last time or she'd be under. Depends on the pumps I guess. She's a bit rough in places the original stuff is ok but it's always the repairs that are the problem. Ten minutes with a chainsaw would get that top off and she'd look much better! That's too much engine for the boat really. Reminds me of a similar boat a mate of my father's had in the '50s. Easy to live with. I'd buy the whole thing for $1200 I reckon: Not much more. He's been trying to sell her for a while. She's in a warehouse/workshop in Onehunga plenty of junk around. We'd fix her up for you at Whangateau Trad Boatyard |

Thanks for your thoughts on the boat. I went to have a look and you were right she is quite a project. I made an offer but no dice so I ended up getting an 18 ft Pelin to play with. I think it will make a better dive platform anyway Cheers again for the info |
