I have a 16' (old) clinker with a Briggs & Stratton inboard connected thru to a gear box with foward, neutral and reverse. It is a sliding type gear box. It has Chinook and Seattle cast in the housing of the unit. Have not tried it out in the water yet and wanted to know more about the gear if anyone had any info on these units. Seems like a good system, heavy built cast iron case that splits for servicing.

Any info would be appreciated.

Regards

I dont know if this will help, but get ahold of the Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle and talk to the director,he is very familiar with Ronald Young's poulsbo boats which may have had that gear as an option. The boat you have was very common on Vancouver Island, wish I could find one now! When I'm up there,I'm usually between Parker Is.& Ganges, just dont see them around anymore.Paul
