I never knew of such an engine! WoW! This design would escape the problem of crankcase oil dilution, as the petrol/air mix is not drawn in thru the crankcase at all! Perhaps in this case straight petrol could be used, and the crankcase be filled as a 4 stoke is, with oil!?!? This oil could not be lost up any transfer ports, then burnt, wastefully. It would have been as dear to make as the 4 stroke, so if people didn't understand the benefit, perhaps they'd buy the simple valveless 2 stroke. Piston weight would be large, but putt-putts don't rev fast anyhoo. I doubt it would have made the 1200 revs under load as a single cylinder? Does anyone know of one of these engines in existence - and how well it goes? Thanks for posting! I wonder if there are any petrol 2 strokes that use a poppet EXHAUST valve in the head, and crankcase induction? |

Interesting concept Richard, piston resembles the vacuum engines designed for milking machines. These post keep the site interesting, thanks. |
