MORTON, Harry Dean; born, Ann Arbor, Mich., Dec. 17, 1872; son of Andrew N. and Betty N. (Congdon) Morton; educated in public schools of Chelsea, Mich.; unmarried. Came to Detroit,1895, and engaged as stenographer of Daniel Scotten & Co., tobacco manufacturers; then was manager Howard Publishing Co.; engaged in general shorthand reporting; removed to New York City and for six years was manager of the legal department of the Farbenfabriken of Elberfeld of Germany; returned to Detroit early in 1906 and organized the Gies Gear Co., manufacturers of marine reverse gears, of which has been treasurer and general manager since organization.
