I have a Packard V8 marine engine that came with a '57 Chris Craft Capri that I just bought. I'm leaning towards putting the original motor in the Capri, or at least one more original.
I have not had much luck finding information about the Packard Marine engines and am hoping someone here can shed some light.
I am curious as to their worth as a marine engine as well as their value if I were to sell it.

Do you have a model number for the Packard?
I couldn't help you with "value", but I might have specs or literature on it. |

In 57 would packard and gm,chevy be about the same?? |

I don't know that the engine is a '57. The boat I bought that the previous owner was to put it in, is a '57. |

I agree not chevy valve covers. When i looked up parkard in my book it said see crusader,look up crusader and there is a list of engines most of them have ci's that match chevy. Some are differant and there is no id of manufacture. |

Looks Pontiac to me. Does the bellhousing bolt pattern look like an M? Chevys looked like an A.
Pontiac, Olds and Buick shared the M pattern.
A pic of the front will halp as well.

After searching the web, It's a Packard
Too many bolts in the valve cover to be a Pontiac anyway. |

It's a Packard auto engine. After market converted by stokes marine in Coldwater Michigan. Look at the water jacketed exhaust manifolds for their logo. Osco also made similar conversions. Packard stopped building marine engines in 1949. They never built a marine V-8. |

I think you need to talk to someone at the Studebaker Drivers Club ,looks a lot like a Stude 289 .They can help you with ID. Packard was absorbed by Studebaker by 1957. |

I'm looking for sound recordings of the Packard engine used by the british MTB MGB's etc in World War 2 ...any one know where I can find some?!! Also Any other MTB MGB engines recordings..eg Isotta
