hello all, i am looking for a advise and a dependable engine to install in a boat i just finished building. its an old looking 18 ' semi displacement traditional built. i was building for an older man who passed away before completed so i am hopeing to make it desireable to someone. right now i have a 27 hp 2 cyl dsl VM industrial air cooled engine that is , it just dosent fit the boat. i`am not sure how much hp i really need. you can pretty much see where she floats, a little higher at the stem and a little lower aft then the paint, i`am still hopeing she`s more semi dis. than a displacement hull, means a big difference in hp needs, a different engine could move some weight aft, input or comments welcome, i`am not a boat builder, carpenter -woodworker, this is # 1, she is definitly solid, thanks , jerry,

Jerry; If the 27 hp you have gives reasonable performance; You might consider looking for a servicable Graymarine Sea Scout 4cyl 25hp motor. They are relatively common.Look up Duby Marine on the web in Buffalo N.Y. He has a number of refurbished small 4 cyl engines in inventory in cluding a perkins or two.He may give some good advice if you E-mail your photo to him.Owners name is John Dubikus. |
