Can anyone please help me? I need to talk to someone who has a Grey Marine 6-71 N diesel engine and who knows about it mechanically....where are the lines that go from the oil filter to the enigne? My husband, who is not a mechanic, but trys real hard, cant find any....we just aquired a 1954 Maine fishing boat and we have a fairly long voyage to make in the near future and we want to be as safe as pobssible ....can anyone help me? We have the manual, but its not helping much. |

You may have a Model 64HN9, WW11 landing Craft 6-71 "Grey Marine" Diesel Engine and the "Bypass" Oil Filter is bracket mounted on the forward port side (Left side from the rear of the engine)of the engine block, with the main oil line from the engine block to the side of the Filter Base and the oil out back to the block fitting/line is out the bottom of the Oil filter base.
You mentioned that you have a 6-71 "N" Engine,..so you probably have the 1940's early style 64HN9 "Grey Marine" Sea/Raw-Fresh Water, or Keel Cooled Heat Exchanger on the Top-Front of the engine and you have it on a late style 6-71 "N" engine, where the "Full-Flow" Oil Filter is part of the Engine Oil Cooler Casting, with "No" external oil line/hoses and is also mounted on front of the engine, either on the port or starboard side. Are you trying to service/change the oil filter element?
If so,..large bolt head on top of the Filter shell, with the oil Filter Element inside.
AC Filter Element # PF-132,...if it's the Bypass Filter,..P-117 |
