Thanks Miro, just got back from the shop, boarded up and secured all loose objects, my sons took care of the house. It's forecast to come straight over us, but it's not strengthening as first predicted. Dickie Gibbens went to Baton Rouge, he's closer to the Gulf and in a lower area. We plan to ride it out at home.

From the Hurricane Centre reports, the aircraft spotters are indicating that the south wall is dissipating and that the top of the eye has also dissipated.
That means the surge will be less, but the winds are still bad.
It also means the storm will stall over Louisiana and dump a whole heck of a lot of water - sort of an after surge when all that water starts heading back to the sea.
And there is another storm Hannah on its way.
It's like a bad dream that won't end.
But I know that the folks there are smart and know what to do - I have faith they'll be OK.

Looks like the Louisiana boys could be without power for an extended period of time. Our prayers will be with them.

Here in Morgan City, South of JB and west of Dick Gibbens were okay. Lost power to all of city, slowly coming back on, lots of trees damaged but overall houses are okay. My house is fine except for lost of power. I have a whole house generator so I have power to run everything. Several business places in town had damage to their buildings. My building is fine. Lack of gasoline all over down here is a problem now. People starting to come back to a hot house. Small generators are a hot commodity now. I haven't talked to JB or Dick yet. Just got in yesterday. I'll try today and give an update. I'll try to reach the bunch from New Iberia as well,Bob Legnon and John smietana. Thanks for the prayers and concern. Audie

Just got the shop open, running on generator, looks like one to 4 weeks without power. I have a diesel generator at the house but cable is down, we were hit hard, a lot of huge trees took out houses, I just lost a fence to a tree. Talked to Dickie Gibbens, John, Bob,& Jamie, all are ok. Our area, up bayou Lafourche to Baton Rouge seems to be the hardest hit.
Thanks for prayers and concern.
J.B.

Glad to hear everyone is okay. We've been thinking about you. You southern boys are made of good stuff to weather the storms year after year. I can't imagine being without power for weeks. We get excited when a line is down for a couple of days...
Good luck with the cleanup.

Just today got internet, the last service to return. We have no real damage, just tree limbs to clean up. Extreamly fortunate! Ike is going to be tough on our neighbors to the west! Thanks for the concern! DG

Haven't heard anything since Ike. How are the Louisiana collectors doing?

All good news! Wife and I stayed home for Ike and got 60 MPH winds! Tidal surge water to the south of us is still being pumped out! I just began playing with the two Palmer NR engines I bought in Portland, IN the week after Mystic. A headless SN 1932823, a stuck saltwater engine. The other PNR has casting dates in the mid 1940's appeares to have been run recently. Thanks for the concern! DG
