So I thought I had an A-4 for a long time until I posted pics over at Moyer. Turns out he says I have a P-60. So here I am. I want to get this thing running. It was running maybe 12 years ago, never seized, no water in the motor as far as I know. It has a couple of mickey mouse repairs that I plan to correct. I guess there are several types of P-60's. The motor is probably the original motor in my '70 32' Challenger. I will get the serial number to see if that helps. Anyone know anything about this engine, which manual will help me, how I should get the proper parts? Did I hear right on one of these threads, there are "hundreds" of running P-60's? That's not many, I guess. See pics: http://www.flickr.com/gp/9960338@N03/JG83k4 |

Chris go to Topics and go down to Palmer and you will find miles of data on the P-60. Read them before proceeding as the answers to most if hot all your questions are there. Remember the P-60 went out of production about 1980 and yet a lot of them are still in service. If you have a good exhaust manifold all the rest of the parts are easy to find. Jusr remember the P-60 AKA M-60 is basically the IHC Cub-LoBoy tractor block which Palmer bolted on the marine conversion parts. Don't talk Palmer to IHC tractor dealers and don't confurse the Cub-LoBoy C-60 engine with the IHC Cub Cadet that is an entirely different engine. |

I've been reading, but I was confused with all the different P-60 configs. So IHC Cub-LoBoy is what I need to know. Thank you!! Still confused which manual I should purchase. I guess that is where the serial number will help, eh? I have never noticed a problem with the manifold so I may be lucky. |

Specify C60 engine when refering to tractor parts. These parts are NOT common to the tractor: Thermostat Water pump Alternator Distributor Exaust manifold Crankshaft Head gasket (for use in salt water) This web site sells both tractor and Palmer P-60 manuals. Both are sketchy and not detailed as much as automotive manuals |
