Tomorrow I'm going to look at a rebuilt Graymarine 4-112 with gears. It has been "laid up" and unless I'm serious about it I don't think the owner will fire it up.
I'm wondering if there is a way (cast marking) to easily determine what rotation the gearing is? Or were they all the same?
Thanks

Most turn a clockwise wheel. Look in the center of the flywheel and you will find the tangs for a hand crank. They will tell you the direction it spins.

I am attempting to rebuild the entire engine and transmission on a Gray Six 112. What is the key to getting the transmission away from the engine? The engine hasn't been started or run for over 15 years. Is it just frozen up?
