Does anyone have any information on a Hallett Diesel Engine Model #AC-1S, Serial #AC10082. I'm having now luck finding any information on the engine or the company that produced it?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Not a lot of info on this Co.virtually no ads in marine pubications as yet.

Hallet Mfg Company
Hyde Park Station, Los Angeles, California

Diesel Progress Mag stated their first Diesels were mfgd in 1916.

A senior member here has a Hallet Gas Marine engine !

This is from Wendels Book.

I have a little bit I can add on Hallett from "Diesel Engine Catalog"--nothing earlier than 1945 which listed only a model D1A, water cooled, 8 Hp @ 1500 R/M.
By 1954 a D2 had been added which was 2 cyl, 20 Hp,566 lbs, and both it and the D1, now rated 10HP ran @ 1800 R/M.
Also the model C had been added;
AC1;(air cooled)1 cyl,6 HP,220 lbs
AC2; 2 cyl,13 HP,350 lbs
WC1(water cooled);1 cyl,7 HP, 250 lbs
WC2; 2 cyl,14 HP, 375 lbs
WC4; 4 cyl,30 HP, 480 lbs
the Model D was 3 7/8 x 4 1/4 and the model C 3 1/2 x 3 3/4 B&S.
the suffex "s" designated stationary while a "m" meant marine. They state "all models can be furnished with reduction and reverse gears".

Jumping ahead to 1959, we find the model D has disappeared also the WC4, the rest of the offerings remain the same but a lot of emphasis on a line of direct mounted generators of 3 and 5 KW for the AC engines.
But now we find them under a new name of American MARC, Inc.(notice the capitalization of MARC but not American)at the same address and a statement;"American MARC incorporated in September, 1955, has grown to a dominant position in the manufacture of lightweight, air-cooled Diesel engines over a relatively short span of time.Using the advanced designs of European engineers as a criteria.
By 1968, I don't find American MARC listed anymore but let me mention one of their engines I lust for. This is a diesel outboard of 2 stroke, crancase compression, OPPOSED PISTON(not opposed cylinder)design.Meaning each cylinder would use 2 pistons, 2 connecting rods, and 2 crankshafts throws.
If you go to "The Antique Outboarder Archive" and find in the archive; American MARC also AMARC you will see 2 advertisements for this engine in 7.5, 15, and 22 HP while 1 ad seems to be offering it at nominal 10(9 1/4 actual)HP.Probably 7.5 HP cyl packages were added for the higher HP engines but this is not stated.
These ads are dated(?)as 1972 and show a schematic and exploded view of a single cyl package.
I'd like to hear testamony concerning these odd engines-surely someone out there owned or maintained them.I have also seen this engine re-badged and offered by McCulloch.
Hope this helps.

There's a twin Hallet upright in a scrap yard near here, looks relatively complete if anyone wants to save it.

I have a Hallett diesel generator. I also have the service manual which I scanned in at 600dpi. The URL to the manual is here:
