I've recently 'inherited' our 'old' family boat, a Nordic 17 fiberglass hull (New, 1979) that has a much older Blaxland twin fitted. 20 or so years ago as a teenager I use to potter around Port Hacking in this thing. Then we moved away from the water and eventually my father parked the boat in his backyard out west and there it has sat for nearly 20 years. I now would like to get the boat running again, of which a major part is having a functioning engine. :-) I'm not really up to attempting to rebuild this engine myself, so i'm trying to find some one who could repair it, or at least assess if it's worth repairing. Blaxland Marine doesn't get a hit in the Yellow Pages any more, and google sends me straight to this forum!. My other option of course is to give up on the Blaxland and put a modern marine diesel in - which is probably what the hull designer had orginally intended :-), but there is something special about having the boat powered by such a simple engine. I also have a copy of the Blaxland promotional materials and a service manual. The service manual however seems to assume you already know how a 2 stroke petrol engine is supposed to work. (It's also a copy of a copy of a). So does any one have any current contacts of mechanics who take on the repair of old marine engines ? |

Hi Andrew, Contact Boyd Myers at Davistown (Central Coast) 43692218. He is the major repair man for all things Blaxland. Aub Rose at Kirrawee used to do them but has now retired and only fiddles a bit with them now. Boyd will help you out. Cheers, Dave |
