Hi everyone I've just acquired a p55m as part of my boat project a little fiddling and a couple of coils and some temporary wiring and i got it to fire up and run briefly, however i dont seem to be able to get the gearbox to engage, i'd like to test it works before i decide to either use or replace the engine so if anyone can tell me how to engage forwards and reverse that would be great, i can see the lever and the arm that comes from the throttle but i can still rotate the drive hub freely whatever the orientation of the levers. Also is there a source for dynastarts? i have the mountings but no motor/gen. many thanks Paul |

Paul the centering adjustment may be out of adjustment .Or there may be a major problem with in the box . Is there any '' Feel '' or restistance when you move the tram lever? The centering adjustment is carried so that the resistance or pressure when the tram lever is moved either forward or astern is the same. THe adjustment is carried out by slackening the screws at the base of the gear control column and turning the adjuster screw above the coupling |

Feel a bit silly now, found i can engage the gears by rotating the brass stub on top of the post from the gearbox, above where the levers i mentioned are, yes i'm sure it has a proper name too but i dont have a clue Any way to remote the gearchange its not really practical to go rummaging around below decks while i manoeuvre in a busy marina? Cheers Paul |
