This is a Kermath Sea Pup right?: I bought this engine at a garage sale yesterday. I looked the name up on the internet and this seems to be the only place that bothers with them. I would like to get the motor running, I like motors, that is why I bought it. I have the magneto that goes on the engine but it is missing the coil and the magnetic rotor inside, plus the cap is kind of cracked up and glued back together. It is an "Edison type AJ1". Also I am missing the piston rings for the engine. If I can get parts for my magneto, or another good one, and the piston rings I think I can get it running. I checked all the local boat stores and they don't have anything for it so far, there is one more I left a message at and they hopefully will call back. I never had a boat, I thought this was a lawn tractor engine when I bought it but a friend of mine I showed it too said it must be a boat motor because it was water cooled, turns out he was right. Maybe I can find a boat for it, or I have an uncle who has a sailboat and maybe I can fix it up for him. Thanks for any leads on parts, Benjamin P.S. I guess the pictures of it won't show up, but if you click on the blue writing a picture of the engine shows up. Also, is that a water pump on the front with the tube going up to the cylinder? Is that how this is cooled? Does it pick up water out of the lake and return it? I have not looked at it really close yet. |

If the points are in the mag you can use them to fire a coil and battery. Any automotive coil and condensor will fire with a battery. You don't need the cap with a single cylinder engine, just run the wire straight to the plug. Rings should be available through Dave Reed, If you get it running you can have the mag rebuilt or replace it with another, others will probably fit. |
