I'm trying to determine how the reverse gear selection is configured on a Kermath Sea Prince with a joes gears reverse, (It's a 528). Do these actually "Lock" into reverse via detent, or are they reversed by pressure of the reverse lever only. I've got the manual and it's contradictary, and I'm not seeing a detent in the linkage cam to set the gear to a solid reverse. There is a detent for neutral and forward positions. This is a basic question I know, but this is my first forray into boats,..old ones at that. I just don't know what is possible, or likely. What's the scoop? |

Detents for reverse in a boat are not a very good idea. Most inboard boats don't steer well in reverse ( Kitchener rudder being the exception). Neither of the two gear boxes I have have a reverse detent ( a Geis anda Gray) miro |
