I have a Palmer 27 that is equipped with a Jabsco AL 41 water pump. I have just lost my impeller. Does any know where I can find an impeller? Or failing my attempt to find an impeller, the most reasonable option seems to be to install an electrical-driven water pump. The problem here is to have the proper water pressure. Does anyone know the proper water pressure for a PW 27?

Why don't you call Jabsco on the phone and ask them? I got a good answer to the part needed for an obsolete pump a few years ago. That seems a lot simpler than installing a new pump.

Also, Jabsco has an impeller guide, which shows each impeller they make by size, number of blades, etc. You can probably figure out your impeller by measuring the inside of the pump and the shaft.

Here's the guide:

I suppose I should wind up this thread having successfully found an impeller. I became spooked when I laid what was left of my broken impeller on the counter of a large marine dealer and had three or four guys behind the counter announce they had never seen anything like it. I then tried to locate information about the Jabsco AL 41 water pump knowing that phoning around with measurements of the old impeller wasn't going to get me anywhere. I did phone Jabsco and spoke to a regional manager who told me that the AL41 water pump was no longer in their manual. Dead end. It was then I posted my plea. Richard Shapiro's reply saved the day. While I had already phoned Jabsco and had been on their web site I had missed the Jabsco web page Mr. Shapiro referred me to. This page is intended to solicit other manufacturers to purchase Jabsco parts. It contains a manual that asks one to select shaft type, diameter etc. and then announces all impellers that could fit that size. I found that my AL 41 water pump can be fitted with impellers from over a half dozen manufacturers including Volvo, Perkins, Johnson etc. I quickly ordered a Volvo impeller, installed it and am on my way thanks to Mr. Shapio.
