As I just took delivery on an Acadia engine and wish to clean it up and repair a few things. My first, well one of my first tasks is to remove the flywheel. As this engine probably has a gib key how do I go about removing it as it is flush with the shaft and flywheel? |

Seems to me if it is flush with the shaft meaning the tang is no longer present I would do nothing as the flywheel is probably well rusted to the shaft and all you are doing is buying trouble. |

Frank the least disturbing way to get a look inside the crankcase is to remove the 4 cap screws holding the cylinder to the crankcase. This way you don't disturb the clearances on the crankshaft. If you mess up the gasket on the top of the crankcase that is an easy one to make and not a critical thickness. |
