While trying to remove the 7/8" shaft from the shaft coupler, the cast collar/coupler was broken. I am looking desperately for a replacement, as lift-in is May 13th. The coupler is 3 1/4" in diameter, with a three-bolt attachment to the engine, and two set screws and a 1/4" keyway to hold the shaft. Does anyone here have a spare or know where I can get a replacement? Marlon mklasson(at)sympatico.ca |

I don't have a source for the coupler - as I don't know if they are standard or not. I just replaced the coupler on a diesel, and was able to order it from a Yanmar dealer. I would take careful measurements, then check with places like Moyer Marine, Transatlantic Diesel and Mack Boring - if you have the measurements, they can see if they have anything that fits. They also may have a better suggestion for you. I would try Moyer first. There's a significant chance that it is the same unit that came with the A4. However, in the worst case scenario, a machine shop can create a new one for you. Just give them the parts of the old one. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be cheap. |
