I bought this motor and separate brass tag in Wisconsin at a small auction near the mississippi river. The 2 mounting holes on the tag line up with 2 small threaded holes in the exhaust manifold. The owner said he got the motor out of an old Racine boat. One picture shows the number 1141 stamped into the top of the water pump. The exhaust manifold has a casting number A30 on its lower stern face. The brass carb is marked 3/4LH LUNKENHEIMER. The flywheel is 13 1/4" O.D. and the rim is 2" thick. It appears to be missing a rear crankshaft grease cup and a cylinder oiler above the carb. Here are my questions: What brand is it? (Possibly T&M, Kermath, American Engine Co., Racine , other?) What vintage is it? Does the Racine Boats tag belong on it? Is this where Racine boats put their tag? Is 1141 the motor serial number? |

It looks like another Termat & Monihan, the four holes in the flywheel usually meant T&M, three on a Detroit. I've never seen one with a timer on a tower like that. The Racine boat tag was probably added by the boat builder. |

Ross G out on Cape Cod has one with a rotary timer like this one. It is a Termatt for sure as it has a tag. There is another one in CT with a rotary timer. Not sure it it has a tag or not. |

Harry_N Nice Looking Old Marine Engine, its like Kirk's that we looked at last week, your engine above is a 1907 or 08. The tower supported timers were introduced by Termaat & Monahan in 1907, the older style w/pump gland dates it. also new on the singles 07 was the dual oiler. 1907 catalog pages |

Great catalog pictures. My engine is real close and it has the same pump, timer, mixer, exhaust manifold as the 3HP catalog picture. There seem to be 2 differences: My Lunkenheimer screws directly into the cylinder casting and my crankcase just below the mixer has no hole for the 2nd oil line. The catalog seems to show the mixer screwing into a separate piece that bolts onto the cylinder. Perhaps these are artist rendering errors?? Or I could have a late '07?? Thanks for the pics. What is that large round disc/cam on the crank just behind the pump cam?? My square plate which bolts onto the crankcase side does not have any writing on as the catalog pics seem to show. Any idea what colors a 3HP '07 should be? Did T&M use engine decals? |
