Try the google page (even more) with books and click on full text and try entering Gardner Hiscox and then try Dugald Clerk; basically most of their books come up and you can browse page by page. Even better- click on advanced search and type in the words gas engine and enter pub dates from 1870-1915- a whole mess of early texts come up in full view!! Very cool! Looks like Christmas came twice- first for patents and now for books- it is the beta release.
