Richard do you have the brass guide for the oil float wire? Don't set the flywheel on hard until you are sure you have the valve timing correct. On the intake camshaft make sure there is only a few thou for and aft play. If the camshaft can move fore and aft it can cause the timer drive gear to ride up on a tooth. Same watch for the timer driven gear cannot rise up more than a few thou. I find I have to put shim washers above the timer driven gear to control the amount of rise. You may already be sensitive to this problem but I would rather tell you now than later. Looks like you will have a choice restoration. Any serial number. It has the three bolt exhaust flange so we know it is 1938 or later.

Looks like you're moving right along Richard. That's going to be a good engine.

Thanks for the good words !

I should have added this to my other post in January under the Palmer Heading ??

Just showing off my multi-tasking skills, I am now able to forget several things all at one time !!

Dick: I have the brass guide and even the original brass float wire, I shimmed the bevel gear and will shim the cam shaft for sure when I assemble it. I pulled the other posting up under Palmer- the only numbers are casted on the cylinder 2-13-46, and 10-6-43 on the head.
This is the engine that the Leonardtown Palmer dealer sent me the side crankcase plates for ! Your help is always appreciated .
